Falasteen on Film in collaboration with TAPE Collective and the Mockingbird Cinema, is ecstatic to present Bye Bye Tiberias, a moving documentary film by Lina Soualem (2023).
Described as a “superbly woven ode to generations of Palestinian women” by Rough Cut, the film delves in the lives of four generations of women of the director’s family. Through the personal and often difficult experiences of exile of prominent actress (and director’s mother) Hiam Abbas, Bye Bye Tiberias wonderfully stitches together past and present, grief and hope; a family tale that showcases the resilience and dreams of daring Palestinian women deeply affected by occupation, dispossession and displacement.
A gentle discussion will follow the screening with women who have had similar experiences as seen in the film. We will also be sharing details of a virtual activity we would love the audience to collaborate with us on.
