Gobby Girl Productions is bringing a hilarious night of comedy and film to Birmingham.
Hosted monthly between The Mockingbird Cinema and Midlands Arts Centre, Gobby Flicks Comedy will bring a range of well established and up and coming local acts for a night of stand up, concluding with a comedy short film.
The films will vary, from ones made by and starring our acts, to films submitted to us by talented filmmakers from around the Midlands.
Money raised from the night will go into the Gobby Girl Film Fund. This fund will support female writers and directors in producing their own comedy shorts that will be screened at future nights.
A study in 2018 found that only 18% of sitcoms were written by women and another in 2022 found only a third of UK television directors are female. We want to help redress the balance.
