Presented as part of Ideal Birmingham’s 35th Anniversary, this special double bill brings two of the most influential British skate videos back to the city where they featured.
Created by legendary filmmaker Andy Evans, Chillin’ and As If.... captured UK skateboarding exactly as it was: the road trips, the slams, the in-between moments, the friendships and the personalities that defined a generation.
These weren’t polished brand edits. They were independent skate videos made by skaters, for skaters.
Chillin’ was filmed while Andy Evans was living in Birmingham, documenting the city’s skate scene and the original Ideal shop on Corporation Street, while As If became a genuine cult classic, introducing a generation of UK skaters to names including Alex Moul, Jussi Korhonen, Colin Kennedy, Mike Manzoori, Danny Wainwright and many more.
